VBS 2008

If you did not come to the church during the week of VBS you missed an extraordinary experience. From being quarantined, to surviving a terrible storm in a boat and literally having sins taken away, the entire week was exciting and inspiring. Thank you to the many volunteers. It could not have been such a success, if it were not for you. The youth were exceptional and pitched in wherever needed. Shirley Wheeler and the kitchen crew seem to do the impossible and improve the “snacks” each year. Donna Lewis, Mary Smith and Sharon Oliver did an outstanding job coordinating everything. The children were wonderful and showed interest and enthusiasm that was contagious. They truly did not want the week to end. When invited to come back on Sunday mornings, one boy’s comment was, “We can only come one day a week?” A mother who saw the TV spot and brought her children was heard to say, “We have not attended church in the past, but my children feel so welcome here, we are coming back.” This is worth all the expense and hard work. This is what it is all about. God was definitely present at FUMC during VBS ‘08! Cherrie Hefty
